Create a Legacy for Cincinnati Opera through Planned Giving

The Cincinnati Opera, with a rich 88-year history—from its early days at the zoo to its current home in Music Hall—pulls from the vast and unlimited talents of the Cincinnati Opera staff, the Board of Trustees and artistic leaders to continue the success of the organization. All of those involved have an eye on the future, while always building and learning from a glorious past.

A growing number of patrons and friends are ensuring that grand opera will continue in Cincinnati for generations to come by becoming a respected member of the Society of Angels and providing for Cincinnati Opera through their planned giving gifts. As the second-oldest opera company in the United States, Cincinnati Opera has proven itself to be an artistically and financially sound organization time and again with the continued support of donors and successful fundraising efforts.

Cincinnati Opera prides itself on its fiscal responsibility, and the annual operating budget is supported by a mix of earned and contributed income. Proceeds from ticket sales represent less than one-third of the Opera's annual income and cover a small portion of the expenses required to produce grand opera. To keep opera affordable for everyone, other funding sources such as charitable gifts and endowment income cover a majority of operating expenses. An endowment that yields predictable returns is an important stabilizing force that allows for financially responsible artistic planning.

A well-planned charitable gift to Cincinnati Opera's endowment can enable a donor to:
  • Make grand opera their legacy
  • Provide crucial support for the Opera and gain recognition for their philanthropic contributions
  • Decrease their income and estate tax burden
  • Pass on their wealth and memories to the next generation of opera-goers and protect current income
